Overview
Fish Farming: Industry Overview
Fish farming, also known as aquaculture, involves the breeding and rearing of fish in controlled environments such as ponds, tanks, or cages. It is a growing industry driven by the increasing global demand for fish and seafood products. Common species farmed include catfish, tilapia, trout, and salmon. With advancements in breeding techniques, feed technology, and water management, fish farming is becoming a highly efficient and sustainable method of food production.
Subsidy Benefits for Fish Farmers
Subsidies for fish farming can assist with the costs of establishing fish ponds, tanks, or cages, as well as purchasing seed stock (juvenile fish). Financial aid also covers the costs of fish feed, water quality management equipment, and biosecurity systems to ensure healthy fish populations. These subsidies help farmers reduce operating costs, improve production efficiency, and increase profitability in the growing aquaculture industry.
Who Can Apply for Subsidy?
• Aspiring entrepreneurs interested in starting a fish farming business.
• Existing fish farmers who want to expand or upgrade their fish farming operations.
